Syncing accounts between Mac Mail and iPhone

Hello,

I recently got a new email address for the graduate school I will be attending and am unable to set up the exchange account on my phone. I've tried several times but it does not work and the school doesn't offer resources for setting it up on iPhone. I was however able to set it up in Mail on my Mac in under a minute. Is there any way to just get the accounts to sync between the two? A traditional sync did not add the new account. I also tried an iCloud back-up. Any help would be appreciate.
