Syncing all apps when it should only be selected?

This is a new problem for me. After syncing the 3GS with only the selected applications I want, subsequent syncs with iTunes have the radio button for "Selected applications" indicated, but now all of the applications are checkmarked and it proceeds to install every other app that was unselected originally. Am I missing some obvious setting somewhere? This never happened with my 1st gen iPod touch.

Wow, I can't be the only one with this problem. Sure enough, when I went to sync today, the selected apps radio button ticked, along with every application, even though I had about half of them unchecked last sync.
