Syncing Events in iPhoto 7

I don't have iLife 08 (yet) so could someone answer a question on the new iPhoto please ...

When you sync your photos through iTunes to your iPod/iPhone/AppleTV does it allow you to pick events to sync or does it still require albums or smart albums?
