I have been trying to get my phone and mail to properly sync. Whenever I check my mail from my iphone and go back to mail, it shows all the mail as "new" rather than whatever i did with it. When I check it on the computer, it syncs fine with the phone. Anyone else have this problem?

well I'll assume you made sure that the account info in mail is set up for IMAP

(when gmail first offered it my iPhone was using IMAP and mail was using pop3)

When checking your account in mail are you clicking "get mail" to pull the newest information from gmail's server?

If so, have you seen any problems or experienced any stalls?

Here is a fix.

Make sure you set IMAP on the Gmail by logging in. (Turn POP to off)

Make sure you set everything on your mail account on your mac.

Connect your iphone and restore it.

After restore, sync your iPhone through iTunes and make sure you have "sync mail" box checked.

Mail on your iPhone should be setup.

Your gmail should sync with your iphone and mac now. I had the same problem, but I have set the gmail account through iPhone. And for some reason it didn't sync up with my MacBook Pro. But after I did the restore and letting the iTunes setup my mail on the iPhone, I no longer have the problem.
