Hi,

Just purchased a nice new shiny iphone 4.

As I used an ipod touch I already have itunes installed.

The machine i use is a samsung netbook with windows 7 starter installed.

Now I can see that syncing is more involved than just music, videos and photo's etc I would love to sync my contacts and calendar information.

This is where my difficulty lies.

Outlook is not shipped with windows 7starter !

So apart from having to purchase outlook what else could I do ?

Is it vital to sync ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ello,

You don't need to purchase anything! I don't run Win 7, but I know when I used to use Windows XP, I could sync with Outlook OR the default Windows Address Book application.

I'd guess Windows 7 uses the Windows Address Book in the same way so check that out before purchasing any other software. iTunes will be able to pick up your contacts from there.

Also, remember: In a few months, Apple will be rolling out iCloud with the introduction of iOS 5. This will allow you to sync your contacts in the cloud (essentially on the Internet).

This means that as you update or add contacts on your iPhone, they will be synced up to the cloud and then immediately back down to your iPod touch. Cool, huh?

RTP.

Hi,

Just in my iphone 4.

I have the sync tabs unchecked within itunes because as I do not have a suitable programme such as outlook I fear i would lose my contacts.

Resolved.

Issue Resolved by obtaining a copy of outlook 2003 from a friend !

Thanks to all for your advice.:)
