My son uses and iPad Air to watch shows, take pictures, etc. He also uses iMessage. He has an old iPhone 4 that is just on wifi. How can I get iMessage, iPhoto, etc to sync so he can view/recieve/send iMessages from the phone and the iPad? I know I can do it with my iPhone/iPad/MacBook, but for some reason I can't get his to do this.

it's an iPad Air and an iPhone 4, both on wifi.

Phone is way too old. I think the iPad is as well. Requires 11.4 for iCloud messages.

For regular iMessage use, you should be able to toggle it with an Apple ID. But it won’t sync in the same regards as your devices.

Ok thanks. I know the iPad isn’t too old because it worked with my iPhone. I also was able to use photo stream from my iPhone to the iPad.

You are correct, for some reason I thought the original Air was dropped off with iOS 11. But the iPhone 4 is way too old to do a lot of the iCloud syncing services.
