Syncing just gives rolling status and takes for ever!

When I open iTunes, my Apple TV tries to sync and when there is nothing to sync it just gives the barber shop scroll at the top of the program. Does it for hours at a time. What gives?

Leave iTunes open and unplug your AppleTV, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in. Works for me whenever the 2 go into eternal sync.
