I have a Gmail account which I can access on my Android phone with the Gmail app, and I have successfully synced it with the Mail.app client on my MacBook Pro.

I also have a non-Gmail email account, with my business domain, which I have set up on my phone as an additional account on the Gmail app, and it works fine there as well.

I have created the non-Gmail account, as an IMAP account, on the Mail.app client. When I receive an email on this account, it appears on both my phone and on my MacBook. The problem I have is that, if I send an email from my MacBook, it does not sync with the Sent items on my phone app. Sent items on my Gmail account do sync perfectly though.

Any tips on how to resolve this problem?

I've just solved my problem!

I had the non-Gmail account set up on my phone as a POP account, not as an IMAP account. I deleted the account from my phone and then recreated it as an IMAP account and now everything syncs perfectly!
