I just got a MacBook yesterday 
I tried to set up Mail to sync between my iMac and the MacBook. I got as far as all of my accounts on the iMac now appear on my MacBook. But, no matter what I do, the MacBook cannot see any new mail. It'll sometimes show that new mail is available. But, when I click on the particular mailbox to read it, the mailbox is always empty.
My questions are:
1.) Should Mail syncing allow me to really synchronize between the iMac and the MacBook so that I can check mail from either place and have the other know about it?
2.) Do I need to change a settting on the MacBook and or the iMac to get this to work?
