iPod touch syncing problem, need help fast

hey guys, im having a problem with my 2nd generation 8gb ipod. i recently for some reason decided to check the box "manually manage music and videos" under summary -> options on itunes under my ipod, when i tried to sync more songs 20 min later it said that there wasnt enough space when all i did was add 2 songs to my current playlist thats on my ipod, i have 4.19 gb left of space and all that music thats on that playlist is currently on my ipod like i said. i kinda really need that song on my ipod, its a backing track for a gig im playing guitar at ina couple of days. PLEASE help! thanks
