Resolved Syncing SD version of HD TV episodes

I have bought a TV show in HD in the iTunes store, so I now have both the HD and SD files of each episode. For viewing on the iPad, I would like to sync only the SD versions to save some room. However, no matter what I do, iTunes will always sync the HD version. Just deleting the HD version is not an option, since I want to keep it for viewing on my ATV at home. Is there any way to force iTunes to only sync the SD versions? What's the purpose of the SD versions if there is no way to sync them?

Under "Summary" when you're syncing to iTunes, check the option "Prefer standard definition videos" and see if that does it for you.
