Syncing to a new MBP - "apps" empty?

Hey,

I normally just backup to icloud nowadays but preparing for getting an iPhone 7 I thought I'd do a local backup via iTunes. I've never connected to this MBP before.

I seem to be able to sync/backup fine but in iTunes the Apps section is empty. How do I get the apps from the phone into iTunes?

"Transfer purchases from device" doesn't do it.
