This might seem like a particularly odd question, considering the answer is obviously, "only use your email while you're online" but the boss of my company does a lot of email work offline. We use Microsoft Exchange for our email accounts and have them enabled through Apple Mail and in the Mail app on the iPhone. Anyway...

My boss does a lot of email work while not connected to the internet using Apple Mail. This mostly happens when he's on a flight. He will compose emails, send them, create and delete folders, move messages into other folders, delete messages, etc. Now, when he lands and connects his laptop to the internet, all of the work he did while offline is reset and it was like he did nothing at all. Needless to say he's super frustrated.

I suspected the problem is with having his iPhone on while he's doing this offline work on his Mac. I have tried to duplicate his problems by doing the very same things in my Apple Mail but with my phone turned off first. While not connected to the internet I send emails, create folders, move messages around, etc. When I went back online again it synced everything perfectly. All messages were sent and all moved messaged were where they were supposed to be.

I tried the exact same tests with my iPhone on and it caused nothing but problems. Some folders were created tens of times on the server, messages that moved folders with the Apple Mail app didn't move on the server, etc etc.

Our iPhones are set to "Push" for our Exchange email accounts. Without him turning off his phone and only turning it back on again after he completely syncs his Mac, is there a way to avoid this mess? Will switching from "Push" to "Fetch every 15 minutes" or something of that nature help? I'm at a loss trying to figure this out and he's getting more and more upset.

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your help.
