Hello,

I have a new iPod Touch (16GB). It sync perfectly via the USB cable with my iBook G4 laptop. But it has a weird relationship with my older iMac desktop (800Mhz). I reckon this is a USB problem. The Touch specifications call for a USB 2.0 connection. My iMac only has the earlier version (1.1?). Anyway, the upshot is that when I plug in the Touch to the iMac it makes a start-up or connection noise and seems to power up, but it doesn't appear in iTunes or anywhere. The happens when I try using a firewire connection too.

Now I know you could say "Well, it's the wrong port so why are you bothering? Just get a new Mac desktop." That is one solution. But the strange thing is that one time I was able to get a perfect sync between the Touch and the old iMac. It harmonized all the iCal and Contact entries and downloaded all the music from iTunes onto the Touch. And then it never worked again.

So my question is this: Is there a workaround that would allow me to sync the Touch with my pre-USB 2.0 iMac? Or am I condemned to buying a whole new desktop Mac to make it work? I just feel that because it worked once that somehow there must be a way to get it to work again, and again, and again...

Lastly, does anyone know if Mobile Me (due out July 11th) could help me work around this problem? That is, that all my data would be synched via the Cloud, thus allowing me to circumvent the USB problem?

Many thanks!
