syncing two macs - ChronoSync?

I've read many threads about syncing two macs, and apparently ChronoSync is the most recommended software. But these threads are getting old, so just to be sure before diving:

Is ChronoSync still the easiest solution to sync two macs?
Is there a free software doing a similar task?
