Syncing videos to iPad 3

Hey all, i'm gonna be traveling in a few weeks and wanted to put a few videos on my iPad for the flight. Is there a general consensus on the best/easiest apps/procedures for this? A forum favorite or something like that?

Basically i'm guessing all I really have to do is convert whatever videos I want to the Apple format and sync with iTunes, right?
