Synology DS410j or HP MediaSmart EX490 easier full restore from Time Machine?

I'm trying to decided between the Synology DS410j or the HP MediaSmart EX490 for Christmas this year. I like both, but the biggest decision will come with how easy is it to do a full restore of either one of the two Macs in the house if ever needed? I notice HP you have to boot from a USB stick and then use the OS X Installation DVD to continue, but does anyone have any experience with the Synology? I can't find how you do a full restore with their product. I don't see it anywhere in the manual or in forums. I'm looking to see which one is the easiest in the event it's ever needed.

I'm running Snow Leopard on both Macs. I like the size of the Synology, the power management features and it's backup options. I'm guessing the HP does something similar in the sense that it does mirroring from I can tell with the additional bays that are available. If I'm wrong, please shed some light for users with the HP.

NAS solutions

I'm also in the hunt for a NAS solution for my home media and backup purposes.

The two i'm leaning on are the following

1. Synology DS410j

2. QNAP TS-419P

I looked into the HP solution but didn't feel that would be adequate enough for the things i'm looking for.

The QNAP is much more expensive than the Synology DS410j but it does come with more expandability options. I'm 80% leaning towards the DS410j for it's simplicity, and Time Machine claim that is compatible.

I'm interested in hearing from anyone that has or is currently looking for a NAS solution for their home/office.

I went with the HP since I know it can do a bare metal restore from the Time Machine backups over the network. I didn't find anything stating that the Synology could do the same without some hacks. Hope that helps.

I have this posted under the peripherals thread, but I would like to add it here since I'm working on setting up remote access.

So I got the HP EX490 Mediasmart Server and I'm trying to get Remote Access to work with my Airport Extreme (N/Giga version). Unfortunately HP doesn't recommend the Airport Extreme for Remote Access use since it doesn't support UPnP. I followed one guy's steps to manually configure the port forwarding to get Remote Access to work, based upon comments it works for some and doesn't work for others. I've provided screenshots that match his instructions, and I was wondering if anyone has had luck and are there extra steps since I have the latest firmware on my Airport Extreme? I really don't feel like buying another wireless router if possible, but if I need to, any recommendations that has a USB port so I can print wireless with my current printer?
