Synology DS411slim format as RAID 5 or 10?
I have 4 Hitachi 750GB drives installed and 1 in box as a spare.
I am looking to replace my POS LACIE 5BIG which is not supported under OSX Lion. Mainly use it as OSX time machine backup, windows backup, iTunes server, and DLNA to stream media around the house.

My question is given the limited size of the drives available would you go RAID 5 or RAID 10?
 
depends on what is important to you.

raid 5 will give you more space at the expense of write performance. Can lose one drive. 750x3

raid 10 will give you faster write performance at the expense of space. Can lose two drives as long as they are in different mirrored sets. 750x2
