Sys Prefs Hangs on Activating Guest Account

Hi folks - whenever I try to turn on my Guest Account (17"MBP Hi Res with the 7200 disk), sys prefs gets the beachball, and crashes. I am also then unable to launch ANY other application.

Have done an archive and install back to 10.5.2 but it still happens. Can anyone help!?!?
