I'm a long time user of Mac. In fact, I've still got the travel bag the first little Mac came in. I've had just about every iteration from a Fat Mac to tower Macs and now an IMac 2010 version with a MacBook Pro also. It seems like the longer I have them the less I understand them and their capabilities. Like always I feel the need for speed and I think the answer is to upgrade the system.
What I have is a 27" IMac maxed out ram and several HD backups and a Drobo. I'm satisfied with the safety of my storage and backup system for now. I'm a professional photographer and shoot in RAW and do a lot of HDR work so storage is always an issue. The HDR work is something that keeps me looking at my watch. I usually shoot 9 images, often with a D800 so I get lots of big files. I use Photomattix to process the images initially and use Aperture for file management and some editing. I also use Photoshop as well as CaptureNX2. I like the big monitor on the IMac and will continue with that size in either the new IMac or a non-Apple monitor.
So the question is, with this info and what we know or think we know about Mac Pro, Mac Mini and IMac what would be the most practical and cost effective system?
Thanks for your help.
