iTunes' equalizer barely makes a difference to my ears, and it's fairly limited. I'd like a program that can provide a better equalizer and that could ideally adjust the equalizer (and volume) settings for applications individually.

The most commonly recommended program seems to be Boom ($7, also available in the Mac App Store). I tried their demo and found the equalizer to be absolutely delightful, and the program seems well-designed. It seems like the equalizer and volume settings are system-wide, though, with no ability to adjust it individually per program.

Searching these forums turned up an alternative, Hear ($20, not available in the Mac App Store). It seems to have a lot more settings than Boom, but otherwise it's the same thing and it costs quite a bit more. It also has application-specific volume control.

The company that makes Hear also makes another sound program, SoundBunny ($10, not available in the Mac App Store). SoundBunny allows you to adjust the volume of each program individually, but it doesn't seem to have any equalizer functions.

Does anyone know of any other options? Individual program control isn't absolutely critical, and Hear is quite expensive... At this rate I'll probably go for Boom, but I'd like to know of any other recommendations before I spend the money. Thanks!
