Hi everybody,
Since last update of Yosemite (10.10.2), I experience a major problem with the Time Machine and Backup device (USB) or Finder.
I use an iMac of Mid 2011 (USB 2.0 and Thunderbolt). I used to back up (via Time Machine) on a 1TB external hard drive (USB 3.0). I have done this for many months. I do back up a few times a week. It always worked smoothly.
Since last update of Yosemite (or since about six weeks ago) after the Backup is finished, I disable the Time Machine as always and eject the external hard drive. The eject doesn't work completely. There is still to see a greyed icon of the hard drive on the Desktop and doesn't disappear. After that it is impossible to turn off (or restart) the iMac. If I don't eject the hard drive, I can turn off the computer without any problem.
Just to check, I did the same with a 4TB Thunderbolt RAID. No Problem, it works. But with a USB hard drive the system hangs.
I did more tests. I backed up on another USB hard drive (USB 2.0, 500GB) but it was the same problem.
For the last try I connected the USB 3.0 hard drive via an adapter (Thunderbolt > USB 3.0) to the Thunderbolt port. There was the same problem.
Is anybody there with the same experience? Do you have any idea, what the problem is?
