Ok yes the title is really corny and I apologize.
My iBook G4's hard drive really seamed like it was filling up quick, i did a search for large files, both visible and invisible and the "system.log" file in the private folder is over 19GB, 19.19GB to be exact, now i only have a 60GB hard drive and those extra 19GB would be very nice to have back. Is it safe to delete this file, or make it smaller etc.

Sure, just use Terminal to zero it out. At the prompt, type:

> system.log
