Hi everyone,

I'm on day 4 with my MacBook and I have had random reboot issues with this machine the last three days. The first time this happend, I thought I had pressed a bad set of keys (note: day 1 I allowed the automated Software Update tool to update 10 apps (Security Updates, Java updates, etc.)). A dialog box appeared asking if I'm sure I want to shutdown. I didn't get a chance to press cancel before it shutdown. This machine has since done this randomly rebooted about 8 or 9 time. Sometimes when I try to boot back up, the machine shutsdown before I even see the login splash screen.

I went searching through /var/log/system.log and noticed some lines printed in there stating "Previous Shutdown Cause: 3." Would any of you know what this code means? Any suggestions?

I'm going to be placing a call into AppleCare here in a moment, but I thought I would look here for some unbiased input in the mean time.

Thanks in advance.

Mike
