Fellow MR nuts,

I have an early '08 high spec MacBook Pro 15". I run 10.5.7, with all the latest updates, use Filevault, and use Intego Antivirus/Firewall software.

My MacBook Pro failed when I was attempting to install the latest Java update. Subsequent restarts had the system barely working, start up took 30mins. I used disk utility to attempt to repair the disk, which failed. Now when I try to start it up it won't load the operating system.

To complicate the matter 100% of my files are backed up but unfortunately only 90% are the latest version. The backup is encrypted through the WesternDigital program.

1) How do I get my encrypted home folder off the system?
2) How do I unencrypt it?
3) Is it possible to install the OS fresh but 'restore' folders/applications/bookmarks without affecting the system & system settings?
4) Is there a service in Australia I could pay to perform these tasks?

Thanks in advance!
