System Monitor App that does not activate dedicated graphics?

I'm wondering if anyone can verify if the "Temperature Gage" app available in the App Store or "iStat Menus" activates a dedicated graphics card. I'm using a MacBook Pro Retina (latest version of ML). I've tried "xScan" for Mac and was put off by the fact it tripped the dedicated graphics card, which sort of defeats the purpose of monitoring the temperature to keep my MacBook cool. I'm using grfxCardStatus to monitor dedicated graphics usage. Currently, I have the old iStat Pro dashboard widget installed but it doesn't seem to be very accurate in ML. Thanks in advance to all who reply.
