Hi, I just bought a new MP with the M1 chip.

I migrated my previous MP to this one. Weird that the System Preferences from the Apple Menu continually “quit unexpectedly”. Same thing happens, with same message “system preferences quit unexpectedly” when I tap the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar.

My only workaround currently is to open syst pref though Finder -->Applications. More than a little annoying.

I have tried reinstalling MacOs—no changes in the behaviour.

Can anyone help me out?

I have exactly the same problem: new Macbook Pro w/M1 chip, migrated my previous mac. System Preferences quits unexpectedly from Apple menu (not if I open system prefs from Finder/Applications) and same happens with Bluetooth in the icon Menu Bar.

I have noticed that I have two versions of Apple apps in Applications -- one for the Intel chip, and one that is Universal. I think the Apple menu and Icon menu are calling up the Intel chip versions -- if I open the Universal versions in Applications, they work. I do not know how to change which app gets called from the Apple Menu or Icon Bar. Do we have to wait for an OS update, and does Apple know about this?

Guys, same problem with me after migration of Macbook Air
Did you have the chance to repair this bug ? If so can you please share ?
I had Apple support and so far where not able to help : I re-installed Big Sur / I tried the safe mode / I tried on another user : Same bug
Thanks

Exact same problem, but I got there a bit differently. I migrated from a Time Machine backup that was 10.4. The fact that I can't find a solution anywhere makes me think I should completely wipe and install fresh.
