when i go to system preferences i get a pop up saying Your network settings have been changed by another application
i am locked on this message screen and are unable to get into system preferences.I have to force quit to exit .
My reason for wanting in is my email password does not work ,i also get pop up for it saying my password is being rejected.

If your email password in Mail isn't working, you need to go into the preferences for Mail, not the System Prefs.

What are you running at the time when you get the message in Sys Prefs?

I had the same problem some time ago. I can't remember exactly what I did to cure it but this seems very familiar:
Copied from Apple Discussion (http://discussions.apple.com/thread....909&tstart=120), the following resolved this issue:
-------------------------
Go to Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and delete the following (suggest make copies to the desktop first if in doubt):

com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
NetworkInterfaces.plist
preferences.plist
com.apple.nat.plist

All these files will regenerate as necessary when the associated system features are accessed. If you're using Airport or Internet Sharing you'll have to reestablish the appropriate settings, because these will have been lost when the preferences files are removed.
-----------------------
Also, be sure the user knows their wireless network settings before moving any files as they may need to recreate this information.Hope this helps!
