System Requirements for Rooting an Android w a Mac

I would like to root an LG Volt for gaming. Its running 4.4.2 with a macbook3,1 running 10.7.5. I would also like to know what is possible for other phones, and with which operating systems. The internet currently has many root info pages that say OS X, when they mean OS 10.9 or newer.

Your running 10.7.5 - lion

10.9 is mavericks

Alternatively you can use boot camp to install windows 7 and use that as there are a plethora of rooting methods on windows
