I got a popup saying an extension had been blocked. I went into System Preferences -> Security and I have this message:
System software from developer Apple Inc. has been updated

Any idea what this is? I've never seen Apple updates/software needing to be unblocked. I running Ventura on a M2 Studio.

Is they a way to find the file so I can inspect it further?

I see a couple of things that make me curious. 1) You say you're running Ventura, but Ventura doesn't have System Preferences. 2) In Ventura's System Settings, there is no Security submenu.

I will assume you meant System Settings > Privacy and Security. It's probably just apple telling you that they updated something. Can you post a screenshot of that message?

That's interesting. I don't have it.

I searched the web for "System software from developer Apple has been updated", which led to several other mentions but no resolution.

Yes I was doing the same. But it looks like this does come up often. I think I will wait before I approve it.

That makes sense, especially if you haven't noticed any loss of functionality. I also looked at for help at eclecticlight because it often addresses these things, but I didn't find anything. It might be there and I just missed it. Certainly Apple has been making security stronger, and it's a constantly changing system.

It only shows up when there is something to approve.

Look into System Information – Software – Extensions – sort by Last Modified and in System Information – Software – Installations

My guess is that Ventura got confused about one of the kexts in /Library/Extensions/, probably SoftRAID.kext because on my VM with 13.4.1 (22F82) is both there and in /System/Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext, the last one being not signed.

Some context on the Allow button https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ow-button-not-working-final-solution.2372899/

I am due for a system cleanup, so I nuked the system and I am starting fresh.
