Hello,
I got my new iMac recently and I've been having a weird problem. Every now and then when I wake it up from sleep, no system sounds will play. All other sounds play perfectly - iTunes, YouTube etc all sound like they normally do - but there's no sound when new mail arrives, when I empty the trash and so on.
I made sure internal speakers are selected in the Sound preference pane, I checked and unchecked "Play user interface sound effects", nothing seems to work. Logging out and in again doesn't fix it either; the only way to get interface sounds back is to reboot my Mac.
What could be the possible reasons for that and how can I fix it?
