System taking up too much space? (82.8GB)

I recently got an external hard drive because my computer was running out of space. It is a "WD My Passport" and it came with a program called "WD SmartWare" that summarized the distribution of memory on my computer into several categories: documents, movies, music, system, etc. I realized that the "System" category is taking up by far the most amount of space, 82.8GB. Is there anything I can do to reduce this massive amount of memory?

WDsmartware doesn't know what it's talking about.

There are a few quite useful tools that can help you determine what is occupying your hard disc space. I like DiscInventoryX which is available at: http://www.derlien.com/

I like OmniDiskSweeper. Its free and works extremely well for me.
