System Test?

Quick one, is there any way to run a quick test to see if 3G, GPS etc are working???
I am a new iPhone owner, and so far internet seems sluggish to say the least and often I cannot get the maps program to find me, this morning it seemed to say i was in Greece and I was in London!!

I was soo excited to get this for the GPS locating and photo tagging and internet browsing on the move, but neither are blowing me away at the moment.:(
 
oh and the rebooting!

Oooops forgot to mention that it crashes every few hours or so, I go to launch an app and suddenly the whole thing goes black, then i get the silver apple sign for what seems like 5 mins before it comes back on!
Please tell me it is me. I want to love this little shiny thing so much!:eek:
