I recently installed a new printer (Brother HL-5340D), which works fine.

But ...
Now every time I log in, the system asks me to "Choose the machine you want to install", and suggests the printer. (My previous printer was a Brother, and there was no problem)

I googled and found only Windows solutions; I searched this forum, and there was a welter of posts about printers.

What does one do on a Mac to stop the system from doing this?

Install the print driver

I had already installed the printer. That's the whole point. The printer wouldn't be working if I hadn't.

Anyhow, it turns out that all it really wanted was for me to click OK.
(Previously I had always clicked cancel, 'cos the printer was installed and working, so I couldn't understand why it was asking me to install it again. :sigh: Perhaps the dialog boxes could be worded better :))
