System-wide UI Scaling in Lion/Mountain Lion

I have been looking for a tweak to scale the UI of all apps in Lion for a long time, unfortunately without any luck.

I'm using a 2012 MacBook Pro 13 inch which only has a resolution of 1280x800 (the 11 inch MacBook Air has a higher resolution) and i feel the UI is getting a bit cramped...

Does anyone know any tweaks to virtually change the resolution/change the UI Scale of the entire system? thanks
