Other T-Mo Upgrades - Difference Ordering Thru Apple or T-Mo?

I've always gone thru the T-Mo website to upgrade, and I use "Jump" (trading in a phone that's at least half paid off). Does anyone know if I go through the Apple Site to preorder, selecting the T-Mobile Carrier Deal, is this essentially the same as going through the T-Mo site with respect to Jump credit, trade in process, deal terms, etc? Any experience/knowledge dropped on this is much appreciated.

I have not done this myself, but it has been expressed several times on the T-Mobile subreddit (reddit.com) that it's the same.

Additionally, bought through Apple (even on EIP) the phone will come unlocked out of the box. Done through T-Mobile, you have to satisfy their unlock terms. Whether that matters or not is up to you though.
