I'm in Dallas and I think it's 4×2 MIMO being rolled out. My phone has been consistently on LTE everywhere I've been this weekend in places that I normally drop to 4G.

I noticed in Scranton PA that the places that had signal but dropped to EDGE a few months ago stayed nonstop LTE/4G. Signal area isn't bigger but what is there is a lot more consistent.

For me I just went into general -> about and it popped up.

I'm not getting the carrier update but I'm on 7.06. Never had to update the firmware to get the latest carrier package but I'm not sure anymore.

This carrier update makes a change to authentication for carrier entitlements (hotspot, FaceTime, etc). There are no other changes.

No, but this update will only show up on your device if you have 7.1 or later.

It could be coincidental, but for me it kicked my two 'bar' LTE reception out the door, and now gives me much slower 4 'bar' 4G reception. <- this is at home where I KNOW I had reliable LTE before.

I am 7.1.2JB on 5S. No problem applying the update unless this 4G eats LTE issue is some sort of punishment.
