Like a lot of people on here, I don't like having a case on my phone because it makes it either too bulky or too ugly. Since T-Mobile FINALLY got the iPhone, I got it the day I was able to (I'm an employee) and I didn't want to defeat the beauty of it with some kind of case or gel skin.
At our store we received a D3O case (smoke color) and I have to say I absolutely love it. It doesn't add much bulk, if any, to the phone and is reinforced around the edges where it's prone to hit the ground if you were to drop it.
The case is $35 at our store which is a little steep but this combined with a screen protector, I'm completely satisfied with it.
