I just received an email from “T-Mobile” stating that my personal information such as Name, DOB, SSN and DL # has been accessed… however, my fiancés information has not been accessed. I can’t tell if this is a legit email from T-Mobile or if this is just a scam. I know T-Mobile had a breach not too long ago but I wasn’t even a T-Mobile customer at the time.

Has anyone else dealt with this? If so, what steps have you taken to protect yourself?

Lock all your credit reports from inquiry (use this guide). And turn the spending alerts on for all your cards & bank accounts.

Fun Fact: If someone applies for the Target DEBIT card, it doesn't require a credit check but theives can reset your bank password and link your bank account to it with the info above. My bank alerts me when there is more than $100 spent from the account so I caught it in time to shut down the charge before the funds left my account.

Thank you, I will definitely be doing that.

TMO also has that credit fraud program they are offering due to the breach for free so look into that. It comes up when I log into my account or check w/ customer service.
I just applied for it; waiting on the email to come through to finish setting it up. Such a pain in the ass. Lol

I immediately removed my debit card on file, canceled it and asked for a new one from my bank. I now have a prepaid card on file for autopay payments for the $5 off, but I always pay earlier and use ApplePay.

I applied for it weeks ago and have yet to receive any response from T-Mo on that. They are a joke!
Same happened to me. Then, I contacted TMO through Twitter and had a conversation in which they told me to contact McAfee. I didn't. About two weeks later I went to the TMO site and put in my email and phone number again. This time I got the confirmation email two days later. Have yet to set it up.

That’s just false advertising! Their email clearly says, “we’ll contact you later…”
They can’t even get it right after this major data breach fail.

If you log into my T-Mobile dot com. What does it say ? Is the same message there ?

Yeah this sucks. Ironically, I've been getting a crap ton of phishing emails and txt messages, its awful. Thanks T-Mobile. Wait, did the breach happen on a Tuesday ??? LOL
