Hi everyone!

I'm planning on getting the new 5.5 iphone when it is announced in a month or so. I currently have the iphone 5 on tmobile. My question for everyone is, will I be able to give my girlfriend my iphone 5 and have it work 100% on Verizon? She is coming from an iphone 4. Thanks!

If your iPhone 5 has AWS LTE on it, then it can work with Verizon, but only in "XLTE" areas of coverage. Also, if you can activate a Verizon phone on T-Mobile, go for it.

No it won't work.

That is incorrect. Stop lying.

A VZW iPhone5/5S can be activated on VZW, that's it. That phone is also unlocked to be used on any other GSM carrier worldwide. However, this only goes one-way. An AT&T/TMo iPhone can't be used on VZW.

your version of the iPhone 5 doesn't have CDMA or LTE band 12 support. The only thing that it can possibly do its connect to verizon's band 4 network which is usually found in some cities and probably very spotty.

You can always sell your 5 and purchase a verizon compatible 5 and give that to your gf if you are so inclined.

Even if the hardware/software could support all of that it still wouldn't work as Verizon doesn't allow any phones on its network aside from actual Verizon phones (and supposedly ones they also "approve", but I can't say I've really heard of any that have been submitted and approved by them). That's really the main thing it all comes down to.
