Hi everyone,

I know this has been mentioned here numerous times, however no one seems to give a clear response. If I order the T-Mobile iPhone 5s from the Apple Online Store for full retail, then take it to Europe and to the following steps, respectively:
1) Open the box and take out the iPhone
2) Pop out the SIM tray
3) Throw the T-Mobile nanoSIM in the trash (or anywhere suitable)
4) Put in a nanoSIM of a local provider (Orange in my case)
5) Turn on the iPhone

Will it work? Is it completely and definitely true that I do NOT have to activate it with T-Mobile in the U.S. beforehand? Has anyone had experience with this yet?

Thank you so much for clear answers!

Just talked to an Apple representative and he said it's no biggie to just throw out the T-Mobile nanoSIM in the first place, I still wonder what you guys think?

Yes I can confirm it works, did this a week ago. Bought the T-Mobile 5s in NYC and took it with me back to Sweden. Works like a charm.

Thanks, really appreciate your answer, exactly what I was looking for.
