T-Mobile appears to be screen recording activity in the T-Life app after a recent (?) app update. This was toggled on by default, and I did not receive any permissions prompt or a banner indicating that the screen is being recorded. Although the screen is only being recorded within the T-Life app, this seems sketchy and unnecessary. Thoughts?

I recall seeing this a few months ago, disabled it of course. now I can't find that setting anymore

Are you 100% sure of that? You may be right, but it doesn’t seem very clear in the language. It says it will record your screen while you use the app. I have apps that can access my location while I use them, but if I minimize the app they still can access my location. Would that app still record your screen after it’s minimized?

I’d say definitely extremely sketchy.

Well, at least they give you the option to turn it off but it does seem unnecessarily invasive. I can't imagine why anyone would want it on.

Is this on an iPhone? Do you get a notification about it in permissions when you initially set it up?

I believe, thanks to iOS sandboxing, it's not possible for a 3rd party app to record outside of itself.

It seems pretty transparent, explains what they are trying to accomplish and allows you to opt out. Doesn’t seem sketchy at all to me.
