I'm interested in switching to T-Mobile, but before I do I was just curious if anyone knows if the T-Mobile SCNC plan (Simple Choice Plan with No Credit Check) offers the same features as the Simple Choice plan? I really do not want a hard inquiry on my credit history for a cell phone plan especially when I purchase all of my phones outright.

From what I can tell it offers the same features but I figured I would check to see of anybody knows of any unadvertised differences? I guess more specifically if I will miss out on anything by not getting the one that requires a credit check.

Thanks!

The three differences are: (Main one) SCNC does not include data (2G) in countries other than Mexico and Canada, Jump on Demand and Device Payments (Not an issue for you since you buy your phones outright), that's it.

I don't see any difference at all. I think the data in countries outside US, Canada and Mexico, is a summer only special for July and August, unless I'm reading it wrong. I would call and ask what the difference is, if any. Even if you want to change in a T-mo store, I would still call for info (T-mo, not the store.) I found I get more accurate info by calling than I do in the store. It's been pretty easy for me to change/add/remove services over the years. You are not locked into anything unless you purchase a phone on the payment plan.

Correct there is a summer special for Europe to get LTE speeds while there, but normally you only get 2G data worldwide outside of North America but only for the Credit Check Plan. There is a "compare" link http://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-...irpid=10078&cmpid=WTR_AF_Skimbit+Ltd.&irgwc=1 in the SCNC that compares SCNC to SC Credit Check and Prepaid.

I see it now, thanks. Haven't been outside the US for years, never looked into it, good to know.

That's too bad they don't do the international data in countries other than Mexico and Canada if you get the no credit check plan. Thank you for the information.

I must've missed the "Compare Phone Plans" when I was doing my initial research, but all the information I was looking for is right there! Thank you for providing this.

I would agree about that, I stopped into the local store here and they wouldn't provide just a SIM card only as they wanted me to buy a phone through them. I'm not sure if this has changed as this was about 1.5 years ago.

Edit: I marked this as resolved, thanks @tomgossert and @Pjrufus for your help.

I never had that issue with the sim cards. I have heard some T-mobile stores are corporate and some are not, may be that had something to do with it. As long as your phones are compatible, they should just sell the sims and switch you over.
