Looks like there is finally a good trade in offer from T-Mobile. The deal is $500 for the trade if it’s an XS or newer and goes down a bit for each generation below that. Additionally, if you have been a T-Mobile customer for over 5 years then you get an additional $200 which is quite nice. Seems like a good promotion all things considered.

Are you serious ?

T Mobile beats the pants off the Apple Store trade in offer!

Apple Store offer: $350
T Mobile: $415 + $200

Now which would you choose ??

Can I buy the new phone outright or do I have to pay over time ????

you have to pay over time, that's the catch. 30 months, and if you cancel the line before those 30 months are up, they can charge you for the full retail price of the phone. And, my understanding is that if you keep the line but want to upgrade the device before 30 months, you can do that, but you have to pay off the balance (credits stop). So let's say you expect to upgrade in a year… that's really 40% of what they're promising. If you want to upgrade in 2 years, that's 80%, and so forth.

It's a very good deal (as is the AT&T offer) if you know you want to stay with that carrier for 2.5 years and don't plan to upgrade too soon.

Oh, I get it!

They want your continued business for 30 months.

Well not a good idea if you want to change phones every year...

How does enrolling in the Jump On Demand program sound if you are changing out every year ??

I do this, but on sprint. After you make you 12 payments you are automatically eligible for an upgrade. I just looked and my 11PM has a buyout of $430. I am thinking of buying it out and selling it on Swappa to make a couple hundred dollar profit. Just hate doing the process, much easier to turn it back in.

Oh, well that makes it a lot more appealing. I know T-Mobile and Sprint are the same company now, but I don't see that option in the T-Mobile fine print. Maybe I'm just missing it.

Maybe, I'm going to switch to T-mobile this time. I stayed for 10 years with AT&T, switched to Verizon 2 years ago, and now switching to T-mobile. AT&T and Verizon will also give promotions but only with $60~75/line unlimited plan (2 lines). T-mobile give it with $45/line essential unlimited (2 lines). I don't use data much as my phones are connected to WiFi most times.

The issue is I don't want to be bound for 30 months. Probably I will upgrade on Oct, 2022 to iPhone 14. Then I have to give up 6 month credits ($272 value for 2 lines).

I have tentatively signed up for the iPhone Upgrade Program but as someone who has been with T-Mobile for a number of years this seems like a way better deal. Is there a link about this deal?

I am considering making the jump to T-Mobile from ATT, as a carrier anyway, and thought the trade in offer seemed to be a good time. Debating whether to continue with the apple upgrade program or go with a trade in through T-Mobile. Any thoughts on how to best carry out the new signup and trade in through T-Mobile?

T-Mobile really blew it on this upgrade. Really miss their old CEO. Who wants to contract for 30 months. So, 30 months without getting another upgrade? At least make it 24. AT&T has the most aggressive offers this time.
