T-mobile UK Data Access on 3g Iphone

I have an iphone 3g which I've unlocked using one of the hardware unlock solutions. It seems to all work perfectly except I cannot connect to the internet with my t-mobile data plan, I have entered the APN, the username and the password but have had no luck. Does anyone know of anything that could help me?

In settings-> general -> network -> turn on data roaming.
