The base plan ($50 for unlimited minutes texting and 500MB of data) is throttled after 500MB.

If you add the $20 unlimited data add on there is no cap.

Aside from tethering which is capped at 500MB on that plan, unlimited data on your phone however.

All the data "buckets" can be used however you'd like (distributed between tethering and mobile data use).

After 500MB it's down to EDGE. Unless you pay $10 more for 2.5GB or $20 more for Truly Unlimited.

This. Any plan from the 500MB on up is still unlimited, it is just limited to 4G speeds up to what you paid for than you get 2G speeds. If you pay for the unlimited data option, then it is 4G for all you can eat.

Despite the confusion, this is actually quite awesome. Having your connection slowed down sure does beat an extra $10 or $15 if you go over your limit by 1MB. I doubt AT&T and Verizon will do this, but I guess stranger things have happened.
