T-Mobile's Apple TV On Us promotion is ending, and T-Mobile has been informing customers that access to the Apple TV streaming service will no longer be free starting on January 1, 2026.

Going forward, T-Mobile subscribers with a higher-tier plan like Experience More, Experience Beyond, Go5G Plus, Magenta Plus, and more can get discounted access to Apple TV, but will need to pay a $3 per month fee.

T-Mobile has offered customers free Apple TV streaming access since 2021, but earlier this year, Apple increased the price of the Apple TV service from $9.99 per month to $12.99 per month. T-Mobile will now only provide a $9.99 per month discount, requiring customers to pay the difference.

Carriers have been pulling back on freebies in recent months. Verizon recently ended free Apple Arcade access, and it has unbundled its plans from free perks. Verizon now offers discounts for streaming add-ons, but it does not provide them for free except for some legacy subscribers who have not updated to newer plans. Verizon also nixed its loyalty discounts.

T-Mobile recently ended its Jump on Demand leasing program, and discontinued its partnership with Google offering unlimited Google Photos storage.

The last episode of Pluribus will air early in January, so I can decide if Apple TV is worth paying $3 more per month or just subscribing one month a year the way I used to do.

Same thing happened with Netflix. Used to be included but as prices went up I think it
ended up being $16 or $18 extra before I finally cancelled it.
That was when they put the customer first

T-Mobile Magenta MAX TV Spot, 'Get More'

T-Mobile highlights the "upped" benefits available with its Magenta Max plan, saying that while its competition will charge more for less, T-Mobile believes in "treating people right" by putting them first. The phone service carrier claims that, without upping the price, plan subscribers now get a complimentary Netflix subscription and unlimited premium data that "can't slow down" regardless of how much is used. For a limited time, T-Mobile is also offering both a zero-cost switch deal for new subscribers and up to $650 to pay off an eligible device.

This is what happens when you’re named #1 carrier.

Looks like I switched to AT&T just in time.

Some regrets (the coverage is not quite as good in my area). But they give a 25% discount if you are a teacher and a further discount if you bundle with internet... and also a massive discount again on a new device, if you make the switch at a Costco... on the whole, I'm saving a lot. (Even if I am now having to pay for my Apple TV).

got this text message this morning, since they acknowledge a "$9.99 benefit" wonder if they give me that as a discount when/if I cancel ATV. We shall see, gotta give them. call

I got the text from T-Mobile today too and unsubscribed my Apple TV from them since I don't use it enough to justify paying for it. One of my credit cards offers Apple TV as a perk too (although they mega-cranked up the annual fee for next year so I'm not sure if I'll keep it).

I've also been researching T-Mobile MVNOs today. I've recognized for a while that I'm overpaying for my legacy Magenta MaxUp Amp plan. I can move to Mint Mobile (owned by T-Mobile!) and pay $822 less per year. My "free" upgrade yearly perk truly isn't free. I'm just weighing whether I'd really miss any of the perks and things, most of which I never use. I can't think of the last time I really got anything I valued from T-Mobile Tuesdays.

You might also want to look into US Mobile. For me, Mint Mobile ends up being a tiny bit more after they add their taxes and fees. US Mobile includes everything.

I'm considering their Unlimited Started plan for $199 (~$16.58/mo) for 12 months since my Mint Mobile plan from last holiday sale (same as this year's unlimited data plan for $180 + $1.75 in taxes + $25.25 in recovery fees for 12 months) is up in 2 months and the holiday deals are only for new customers.

I'll check it out, thanks! The move might be to alternate between them yearly to get the new customer rates.

The carrier merry-go-round. It will change over time.

T-Mobile’s old CEO, John Legere, was a little similar to Steve Jobs, whereas the CEO who replaced him, Mike Sievert, was a little similar to Tim Cook in the sense that he raised prices and didn’t innovate.

Not really worth a response, but Apple has rocked the world in the past 14 years since we lost Steve. Wow, 14 years.

Apple's innovations are hard to spot because of their year-by-year incremental approach.
