First post to this forum, been reading years, but now I have some broblem!

I just bought Mac Mini 2019 and I can't access disk utility? It opens only
reinstall, restart and shut down options? Tried many times, even disconnect all cables and left only
keyboard, mouse and Display fconnected. cmd-R compination.
Need external drive booting option.

Anybody whit same issue?

The very first thing I did when booting up my new 2018 Mini was to go to the Startup Security utility and DISABLE the t2 protection (as much as it could be "disabled").

I would prefer that the t2 NOT be there at all, but of course, it IS there.
In that case, I want it to be "dis-empowered" as much as I can control.

Macs ran great for years WITHOUT the t2.
Why do we really need it now?

Quite simple: Apple wants to watch over their product ;)
They want to have full control.

I have a strange feeling, that they became one of the Big Brothers.

The T2 security chip's default settings make sense for laptops and desktops, in insecure areas. In these cases the T2 reduces the risk of personal/business information being “stolen”. BUT….

Like Fishrrman, the first thing i did to my 2018 Mini was to disable as much of the T2 security as possible. I frequently boot from external drives to test system updates, etc.. So the T2 default settings are way too restrictive for my 2018 Mini that never leaves my house. Beside, if someone breaks into my house and gets to my 2018 Mini, I’ve got much bigger problems than a T2 chip can handle :( But maybe the 12 gauge...

My thoughts exactly, I agree with everything you wrote and did exactly the same when I got my MM 2018.

My main concern is that the t2 will be even more "embedded" in future Macs and may be more difficult to "turn off".

I think its all about security, there's so much security crakers out there....
Mac mini works now as I want. Using it for music production whit Logic Pro X
