So, I've never thought about this before and I'm guessing the answer is really simple. So, if I have multiple word documents open, can I neatly tab them like I would in safari or firefox? This must be possible and seems so obvious.

And I'm not talking about like in Excel, where they have tabs for different sheets

In short, no. Tabs are a function of the application, and there isn't really a way to tack it on. Your best option is to get to know Expose, it will become your best friend.

yeah, I hate expose for that
tabs would be easier when I'm working within a document. I don't use tabs for my safari windows, do you? Using expose is a lame excuse for something that should be easy enough to do.

Hey don't blame Apple for that. MS created Office: Mac. It's their responsibility to think about this stuff. Expose is pretty easy to use as well as safari tabs.
