iOS Tableview highlight problem

I have a very typical table view that turns blue when you highlight a cell. (just like the standard address book or mail). But sometimes it doesn't highlight. Since it takes about 4 seconds to load one of these rows, it appears to be doing nothing. Anyone having similar problems?
